Vickie Mendenhall, an American woman, bought a second-hand couch for $27 when a couple of days later, the couch started to produce mysterious mewing sounds.

Vickie searched days, to see where the mewing sounds came from. Later, her boyfriend was watching television while sitting in the used couch, when suddenly he felt something move inside of the couch.

He lifted up the couch and there the producer of the mysterious mewing sounds
appeared out of nowhere; a very hungry 9-year-old calico cat. The cat probably crawled through a small hole on the underside and got stuck inside the couch.

Vickie telephoned the shopkeeper that sold her the couch, but he didn’t know who donated the couch to the shop. She then took the cat to the animal shelter SpokAnimal CARE where she works, so it could recover.  In the meantime she contacted media outlets,
hoping she would find the owner soon enough.

And she sure did… Bob Killion of Spokane showed up to claim his cat, after a friend of him alerted him to a TV story about his cat. Killion had donated the couch to the shop on the 19th of February, and about the same time his cat disappeared.
