A snow fae takes a large group of travelers from distant shores to a magical snowy place called Wynterfest Village.

“Greetings, my friends,” yelled the lovely snow fae, flying eye-level and waving her long brass spyglass to the disembarking passengers who had arrived after a long voyage. The snow fae was dressed in a shimmering pale violet gown with translucent sleeves and skirt. Her white leggings and slippers also shimmered like the gown.  Her clear wings were split up into various sections like stained-glass, only without any color. The edges of her wings were frosted and the bottom parts looked like icicles as they moved back and forth to keep her elevated.

Several wooden sailing ships were arriving from various parts of the world, bringing passengers who would normally provoke violence were they not suddenly overcome with a powerful enchantment the moment they stepped on the gangplank to shore.  The snow fae waited at the docks, beckoning the travelers to join her when she noted a young minstrel carrying a mystical sword on his back. He stepped down the gangplank like the rest of the travelers, then looked up at her with a charismatic smile. Snoplay suddenly felt strange, and alarmed. Swiftly she drew closer and raised her hand to stop the young man.

“Pardon, sir, but no weapons are allowed…,” she suddenly said aloud.

“Weapon? I carry no weapon. I am but a minstrel, Snoplay,” the young man turned his back to reveal that he was carrying a beautiful gold lap harp.

Snoplay raised an eyebrow. There was something very special about this young minstrel, but she didn’t know what it was.

“Ah, forgive me. I could have sworn that was… well, never mind. Well met, sir,” Snoplay blushed and did a double-take at the young man. He knew her name and she hadn’t introduced herself yet.  She returned his smile and decided to get back to her duty as a guide. Whoever he was posed neither trouble nor danger; that was certain.  Still feeling strange over the minstrel, the snow face continued to welcome more travelers joining the group.  When everyone on the tour was accounted for, the snow fae fluttered her wings and rose up into the air so that everyone could see her.

“My name is Snoplay and I will be your guide today.  I know I am small, but I assure you, I am fast and I have never lost a tourist yet.  What you are feeling at this moment is the power of our goddess.  As along as you are here, there shall be no fighting and no evil magic. So relax and enjoy thy visit in the knowledge you are safe. Kindly stay together as I begin our tour.”

What a sweet story. I could just see the little fairy in her natural essence and the beauty of the village they were all in. I could hear happy sounds and light music in the air. It was simple, peaceful and joyful. It was nice and had such sweetness about it.
You are natural in this writing field. I feel like I am there.

I just had to add, I have always been a kindred spirit to fairies. In my childhood world, I was a tiny fairy that spread happy dust around. I love these stories in part because of how simplistic and sweet they are. Maybe one day down the road my little fairy friend in me, we can call her Yissy as you so sweetly put it, will come to visit. She is just a simple soul that wants to spread love and peace to the troubled waters of the earth.
    I love your writing.

In addition to all the sweetness and light for its own sake, thanks for picking up on an idea of my own… :)

Thank you both for your comments. I know you, Jack. I know how your minstrel hates to be left out of anything. LOL! Glad to oblige in some small way to include him in this story. I enjoyed writing it and hope to do more. I would be honored for Yissy (Glad you liked the nickname) to take up permanent residence at Wynterfest Village. She would love it there. Merry Christmas and love to you, my dear friends.
