A short story with room for expansion. Something I wrote awhile ago and might expand on.

chapter 1

          “Fuck!’

Rain smashed her fist on the dinosaur of a keyboard in front of her. It was bad enough that she had to work with this piece of shit computer but now it wouldn’t connect to the internet? Oh, hell no.

“Deck, you got any neighbors with nice computers?”

Deck, a little slow on these things, looked up and managed a dazed “Yeah.” Then, more interested, “Why?”

“Well, we should say hi.” A grin split across her face. A face that possessed angled cheekbones and lips a man would kill to kiss complemented by a creamy white complexion; all of this blending cleanly with her lean, 5’4’’, slim body that was currently draped in something some might call a steampunk chic ensemble. She was beautiful and she knew it. Rain used the allure of her short, pixie-cut black hair and vivid green eyes not only to her advantage but for her explicit amusement as well.

Deck looked at her and saw the mischief swirling in the afore-mentioned green eyes. “Ohhh, no. I know that look. Rain, we can’t jack my neighbor’s computer.  They know I live here.”

“I never said we had to jack it. I just want to borrow it for a bit.”

          “Without telling them.”

She laughed and walked to the screen door, opened it, and preceeded to walk out. “Exactly.”

Deck looked up and the ceiling, heaved a sigh, and got up to follow her. Just like he had since the day they’d met in the third grade.

‘Oh, wow. Now this is a computer.’ Rain ran her fingers over the laptop’s smooth keyboard and gave a sweet, satisfied sigh.
