The story is about a sink that refuses to stop leaking.

You Are Such A Drip

By

Alan L. Bryant

“Drip, drip, drip, drip…”

“What is that noise?”

“Where is it coming from?”

“The kitchen sink is leaking.”

“Turn the knob tight to stop it.”

“Drip, drip, drip, drip…”

“That didn’t work.”

“There is a small rubber washer which wears down over time and needs to be replaced.”

“That seems cheap and easy to do.”

“Drip, drip, drip, drip…”

I shut off the water and unscrewed the knob.

Pulling up what looked like a round plastic cork I found the rubber washer sitting in a hole below.

Removing the rubber washer, I took it to the hardware store and bought a new one exactly like it.

Home again, I reversed the process and started by placing the new washer in the hole.

Next, I stuck the plastic cork back in and screwed on the knob.

“Now, the moment of truth has arrived.”

I turned back on the water, and keeping my fingers crossed, I looked for a leak.

“Drip, drip, drip, drip…”

“I can’t stop this leak!”

“The noise is driving me crazy!”

I cranked up the stereo to drown out the noise.

Another problem solved.
