Story.

The merchants boasted loudly of their goods too cheap to, and invited passersby to not miss the great occasion; those who sang and shouted the names of the objects offered for sale, who rose in the air samples, those who put the basket under the noses of passersby. And a crowd of curious and cheerful talkers and buyers came and went for the path between the Babylon of people and products of all colors and all the smells. When it was near the time fixed by the master, Moses had to move away from that weird and noisy show, and walked toward the square.

Walking through the Mercerie are found among people at all different, walking quickly, with his head low, to another show.

Under the arch of the clock it was hard to pass, all went to the square where stood the wagon, a stage higher, with a truncated column in the center around which ran a bench. A huge crowd crammed in the sun in the midst of magnificent buildings, in front of the mirror of the lagoon. The whole Austrian garrison was under arms, not to be seen but heads and bayonets.

Appeared among the cops, handcuffed some Italians, came on stage, facing the palace of the Doges were heard condemning to death, and imprisonment for daring to dream of the independence of their country by foreigners, and this ruling was read by a curial Austrian by that building, erected in the square by a free people, where everything stood fourteen centuries of independence, against a domain usurped by about nine years without the consent of the true masters.
