Jake, Mike and Emily are three brainy high school students who find their own conversation a way to get through boring classes.
After homeroom, Jake, Mike and Emily trudged to their first period class. They were Best Friends Forever and students in Advanced classes. Their first class was English 3A. It was actually a Literature class and was held in the auditorium to give students a taste of college life. It was really kind of boring because the BFFs had already read most of the novels and stories used in the class.
Mike, Emily and Jake took their usual seats and waited for the class to begin. They continued their discussion of the cinema. Mike said,”I think it is pronounced Zoo-eey”.
Jake said,”I saw her on Regis and Kelly. She said her name is pronounced Zo-eey. The second o is silent.”
Emily said,”I wish you two were second Os so you would be silent”.
“You’re hilarious.”
Class had started. The teacher was going to give a lecture on “The Old Man and the Sea”. The BFFs went on with their important conversation.
Wearily, Emily whispered,”Anyway, proper names are spelled and pronounced the way the person wants them spelled and pronounced.”
Growing tired of the Zooey controversy, the discussion turned, as it often does these days, to vegetarian vampires.
“I think Kristen is ugly,” Emily was saying. “She has tired eyes, buck teeth and big ears.”
Mike said,”You’re just jealous.”
Jake said,”You’re not looking at it from the male point of view. Believe me, Kristen is hot with two Ts.”
“She does have a couple of nice Ts.”
“Oh, Lord,” groaned Emily.
The day finally drew to an end and on Saturday, Emily, Jake and Mike went to the zoo.
