My 21st birthday is approaching in a matter of weeks, and this is a reflection I wrote about what I have learned, because five years ago before I turned 16, I was so depressed I was contemplating suicide on this same day five years back.

A letter to my son for his 21st birthday. Significant due to the year my I gave birth to my son I was 14 years old and I had to spend my entire life fighting to keep him. Alone, 14 and no support, I have made a family for us and I am the proudest mother in the whole world. Not only did I keep him, but raised him into a man.
