It was a weekday, in the evening. I had an Advanced class of ESOL learners (English for Speakers of Other Languages) It was Exam time. They had just finished sitting an online reading exam with City & Guilds in the Computer Training room and all headed back to the classroom nervously, to await the dreaded results.

In 2006, I resigned from my engineering company to semi retire. The reason was that I had sustained an injury to one of my eyes in 2005 and with many recurrent attacks of the cornea I feared for my eyesight.
