Madison, Wisconsin – A chief forester turns himself to police and pays $236 fine because he shot a hen turkey out of season.

A memoir of the numerous close calls with death told in a humorous way. It deals with all types of human interaction as Chris finds his way from Wyoming to California and back during a week off from college in the late 1970’s. His steady companion is a Yamaha 650 motorcycle, which is able to take the multiple accidents and events in stride just as Chris does himself. During the first day he nearly dies, twice. Later he encounters folks from a greasy gang member to thieves, and some wonderful police.
