I recently attended the wedding of my son and his new bride. It was a lovely wedding which included family members of both bride and groom. Several of the attendants have Down’s Syndrome, two of the younger attendants were in wheelchairs and all had smiles of joy on their faces. Those in the pews and the officiating pastor had tears of joy.

Down Syndrome in so many parts of the world is neither accepted nor understood. I was one of the lucky few whose child was diagnosed in vitro, giving me more time to prepare myself for the gift and the challenge of raising a child with special needs.
