One of the major issues was marriage. Jane Austen carefully expands the story by introducing the characters of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet who wanted to get their five daughters married. During Victorian era, if there is a case where a family cannot produce female offspring, the wealth or properties will go to the nearest male relative when the parents have deceased.
