We stood outside the cabin, making last minute preparations before starting on our journey back to the mountain at Dead Man’s Cove. Isis was shivering as the cold of the early morning air was not something she was use to. Removing my sweatshirt I handed it to her, telling her to put it on. I reminded her that the cold did not affect me the way it would her because I was acclimatized to the conditions of the mountains. She bulked at first about wearing it but soon saw my reasoning and adorned the thick garment. Smiling at me she reached over took my hand, moved in closer and kissed me on the cheek. Then she said: “Are you really sure you want to do this Brother? So many things could go wrong; this is very dangerous! Facing Griswald could prove to be your undoing! He has absorbed many of the gifts that others like us have. He is no fool and more than likely knows we are coming”.
