There had always been rumors of people who have sold their soul to the devil, and that especially in the Christian period, although the pact with evil forces exist in almost all world cultures and myths. Financial success, beauty or ability to do special things have been labeled as supernatural powers obtained through a secret pact with an entity, other than as mischievous (?), In return, obviously, of the soul. I wrote this poem after thinking about how Faust and Lennon gave up their souls for the world yet it profited them nothing but eternal death.

Faust gets away with it in the opera but will you, will I? Will we ever be able to undo what we have done and bitterly regret? Can we ever take back the idle word which, like a poisoned dart has left its mark and its corruption in the psyche of some poor soul?

We all make choices, often the wrong ones. How can we go back on what we wanted so long ago when the world was our oyster?
