An original poem. Please read & comment with respect.

Wrote this poem when I was going through a challenging project and almost quit.

4-12-12.

This is a poem writing back in 1982 and is the response of the writer to living in a home with alcoholics in the mist. Mostly, it deals with the love – hate relationships that were going on in the home and the fighting that went on only when alcohol had taken an active role. The poem gives meaning to what the writer viewed as a normal family day.

Dig deep to find your strength.

This poem is about a boxer who is taking a beating in the middle of a match and also fighting with himself on the decidion to stay and fight or quit.To me it was actually a symbol of a life struggle, and it could also represent each of our unique problems and our decisions to keep at something or just give up. I wrote it making the boxer and the reader the same person so as to almost put you right in the fight and force the reader to make the decision at the end for themselves if they would fight on through a tough problem or quit while they are still alive.

This is a song– so when reading try to imagine hearing it being rapped. It’s about not knowing, about standing up, and about assigning blame where blame is due.
