In today’s stressful world, many people have lost all confidence in their abilities to perform and function. Many find themselves going through the motions of living without finding any joy in life. There seems to be no reason to live except to draw in a paycheck to meet bills and pay the taxes that take an increasing bite of income.

The onset of the rains after a long dry spell symbolizes a renewal of hope in the food chain. The long hibernating grass sprout up green leaves. Shrill sounds of crickets and birds fill the background. Emaciated cattle in the African Savanna will regain their flesh. Women and children within the Dinka and Nuer communities in Southern Sudan, Ankole in Uganda to the Maasai in Kenya and Tanzania celebrate the renewal within their homesteads as the men feel satisfied holding onto their staff. A sense of renewal fills the atmosphere. It is a fulfillment of hope.
