There are twins which are either born in the same egg or in two different eggs. Most of the time the twins look alike. One of the twins can be smaller than the other one in Kirundi their names are Bukuru and Butoyi like Peter and Paul in the Roman society who are the founders of the city of Rome which is also the eternal city because of its place in the sunshine which makes the beauty of the South of Europe.

This poem is a reflection on my relationship with my mother, how it has changed and grown over the years, and the different ways that I have seen her: as a baby, a young child, an angst-filled adolescent and troubled and lost twenty-something, and finally as a mature, empathetic, grown thirty-year-old daughter. It ties all of this into her own relationship with her alcoholic mother and the journey of her own life.
