This piece summarizes the first seven poems of the Tanka (Emotions) Series and expresses how mortals are prone to experiencing the feelings of Pride, Anger, Envy, Lust, Gluttony, Greed and Sloth. Every stanza of this poem is a tanka by itself and thus, follows a 5-7-5-7-7 syllabication pattern.

For my fifth poem of the Tanka (Emotions) Series, I decided to be more literal as I feel that I will be able to really summarize Gluttony by simply comparing the subject to an animal, writing down a list of foods that the subject ate and giving the time it took the subject to consume the said items. In addition, I also aim, through this poem, to make you, my readers, become conscious and careful during parties and other food-sharing events as someone may just be staring at you and whispering the exact words of this tanka to another individual, or worse, a group of people.
