At the time of his retirement, the team had already been playing in North Carolina. So he retired as a Carolina Hurricane. He still works for the Canes in coaching the defensemen.

When the team moved to North Carolina and the team was renamed, he became a Carlina Hurricane. The green was the color of the Whalers. The red is for the Hurricanes.
