I struggled to write this sonnet and think it may be a struggle to read.

A collection of poems & songs written and developed over the course of a soul-searching eight year period of my life. The body of work is preceded by a passage I wrote at the beginning of this journey right before leaving for college at 17 years of age, and from all outward appearances, coincidentally outlines the general approach I took to defining the world around me and the purpose within me during this painful period of time. The poems and songs that follow can be viewed as journal entries written in the midst of a spiritual battle.

Jennifer Hudson sings a song which goes like this:

I don’t like living under your spotlight
Just because you think I might find sombody worthy
No, I don’t like living under your spotlight
Baby, if you treat me right you don’t have to worry

This is what happens when one person in a relationship has proven themself untrustworthy and is constantly trying to find dirt on the other so they can be justified.
