Recently I read a book of short stories titled "An Evening in Lucknow" written by the well-known novelist, scriptwriter, journalist and film-maker Khwaja Ahmad Abbas. Inspired by one of his short stories "The Umbrella", I have penned this narrative. This is also my humble dedication to this remarkable writer who published seventy-three books during his life-span of seventy-three years from 1914 to 1987.
