Ray didn’t know the science behind the weapon the invaders used or the sadistic reason they would choose to leave so many in a state that was half life/half death, wandering aimlessly, agelessly and with an unquenchable hunger. Ray didn’t know if they were still alive or were nothing more than soul-less shells. But, it was an eternal punishment that, in his opinion, was not any better than Hell itself and, in many ways, even worse.
