Coming out of nowhere Gujarat, with the support of the NIIT (global talent development provider), now owns the Guinness record of maximum number of players (a whopping 20,483) competing in the chess tournament in the same place during the state’s Golden Jubilee Celebrations. This remarkable feat was achieved in December 2010, beating Mexico, which held the earlier record.
