This poem is set to the tune of “I wish I was in Shore Bridge Now”, a chanty sung often at science fiction conventions and meetings of the Society for Creative Anachronism. This type of parody–science fiction or fantasy theme set to a familiar tune–is called “filk”. I’ve been writing filk for quite a while now; it is fun and is an opportunity to clean up fine, old tunes with a good rhythm with lyrics my grandchildren can enjoy.
