What exactly is a pet peeve? Do everyone have them? Can a pet peeve be defined? Is there a difference between a pet hate and a pet peeve?

In the last couple of months I have increasingly become more aware of subjective comparisons made by myself and others. I am trying to stop them in my thought patterns and am tired of hearing them so often in daily conversations.

This is a short story about my pet peeve: when I am a passenger in a car and the driver stops when the light is yellow instead of trying to make it through.

Kind of vand be confusing when you first read it but if you read it right it states life in short sentences at least thats how I took it but I want your opinion.
