I won first place in my division in my city in the Canadian Legion Literacy Contest for this poem

A poem.

A echoing call. A solemn voice. A last call…

I was talking to a couple of friends last night and the shared verdict seems to be that knowing how you got somewhere is just as important as knowing where you stand. Otherwise, what’s to stop you from drifting from where you’ve learned to be?

THIS IS A POETRY ABOUT WHAT WILL THE PEOPLE REMEMBER ABOUT A PERSON.

The poem is about sadness and regret.

The garden I created for mum.

Isn’t it incredible how a song can remind us of good times, happiness, etc…
Tonight I had the opportunity to truly relive one of the happiest times of my Life; I was there… My eyes saw hers – and again we did not look away.
I felt her chin in my hand, tasted her sweet lips…
In our embrace we held an eternity of bliss – and it was real.

So I’m thinking, what if there are those serving this great country who go to sleep every night never knowing that they are appreciated and cared for?
I think that is truly sad – after all they sacrifice for US…
The least we could say is thank you.
And we should.
Regardless of your political views or beliefs –
Why not take a few minutes to write a letter to someone
who is putting their life on the line for you and I?
