Poem.

This is a poem-type deal I wrote on Facebook a while back, and I figured I’d post it here.

This is my effort to write a palindrome poem. They are great fun to write. You might surprise yourself with something really good. Mine turned out better than I thought. I mulled over it while I was taking my morning walk and it almost wrote itself. Don’t be surprised if I publish more and I hope to see some of your palindromes.

This is a poem I wrote a few years back for a creative writing exercise. It took me a few years to figure out what it was actually about but life has a way of putting the pieces in place.

The Sun, outside.

Sidney Lanier (1842-81), himself a distinguished flutist, was also a creator of music in poetry. Only the first two and last stanzas of the poem are reproduced here owing to length. See how he does it through poetic devices. The analysis at the foot of the poem may help you.
