One of my old teachers who inspired me to write more!

Feelings of affection that has been bottled up being poured out.

Fathers are people too,
And they are worthy to be praise,
Because they were chosen by God to provide,
For their family each and everyday.

Creating this essay was truly a labor of love in honoring my sister. She recently lost her husband (November 8, 2009) and this essay poured out of me shortly thereafter. She is only 43 years old, and her husband had just turned 52 when he died.

I included lyrics from the song, "The Wind Beneath My Wings", in my essay because it holds special meaning for my sister and me: I dedicated that song to her at her wedding in 1991. Over the years, it has remained my way of articulating how valuable she is to me and how she has shaped my life — neither one of us can listen to it without shedding a tear. For decades, she has inspired me to become a better woman, a better mother, and a better human being.

My sister has no idea how much she has influenced my life and it is time that I shone a light on her. I would be nothing without her. This piece is my tribute to her beautiful spirit.
