Maha Ashtami is the most auspicious day when Goddess Durga in full power. She is beautifully decorated with ornaments, flowers and aarti is performed with 108 oil lamps and prayed with 108 lotus.

Written for my wife on own 35th anniversary, September 1, 2008. It reflects that when we got married we not only made promises to each other, but also to God. Marriage is a sacred act which should not be taken lightly.

Appreciating a sacred language.

This work is about the denial of self in the face of so many others whom maintain a more plausible deniability. It is about choosing to scream in a room filled with chatter, small-talk.

These haiku are devoid of any blind adherence to 5-7-5. A rigid following of 17 syllables should not be mandatory as the structure of English and Japanese syllables is quite different.
