The Quest.

The Lord of the Rings epic fantasy trilogy by noted author J.R.R. Tolkien has had a wide influence over the years. It has influenced not only literature and writers, but the very cultures of the world. Each book in the trilogy offers something different for readers, but also for writers, including this book, the second, The Two Towers.

If you are a reader who likes your fantasy literature to be nothing but farm boys who go on quests to save the world and in the end becomes kings, Michael Moorcock’s non-fiction book "Wizardry and Wild Romance" is not for you. Because he tears apart such tales as being trivial. However, there is much to learn in this book, and it can open your eyes to the fantasy genre.

Shadows of Sanctuary was the third book in the original Thieves’ World series of Sword and Sorcery short stories that all took place in one world but were written my different authors. This was something new when the series started in the late 1970s, and has had its influence over many fantasy authors and editors over the years.
