Nicotine – an alkaloid contained in tobacco leaves and stems. When smoking is inhaled with the smoke enters the lungs through the bloodstream, overcoming the blood brain barrier and in a few seconds to fall in the central nervous system. Another point of action of nicotine are autonomic ganglia.
