Whenever I go on a trip, whether business or vacation or just a weekend get away, I am usually filled with anticipation and excitement as it nears time to leave. However, within a few days on the road, I find myself longing for familiar surroundings and comforts and looking forward to the joy of coming home. This poem speaks in agreement to those who agree that there is no place like home.

As a parent, I have heard this many times over the years from my children. I’m sure I am not alone in this, as all children are a bit impatient when they travel. This is especially true when the trip is a special treat for them (e.g. an amusement park).

I am a little short on patience myself when it comes to getting where I want to be in life. It seems as though I have been on the road an awfully long time and perhaps I’ve been going in circles.
