Two Scientists enter the Jungle’s of South America in persuit of an Ancient Secret hidden away from the world for hundreds of centuries. Instead what they find and unleash defies All what Man believe’s in Science, Nature and ultimately in himself.

The Brush was thick and hard , more overgrown than the rest of the Forrest. That day was especially bright and sunny, The birds chirpped and sang almost harmoniously as Jack and Selby made their way through the Forrest floor with the Guide to their destination.

Jackson David Monroe wasn’t anything remotely like what anyone would call a Savior. In his own mind he considered himself to be the farthest thing from it.

“How much longer ?” Selby said, taking a drink from her cantien.

“What’s the matter ?.. Afraid of getting lost ? “ Jack said, taking another swing with his large knife.

When they reached what they were looking for there was no mistaking it. It sat right in the middle of the jungle just as predicted. It was over fifty feet high and over one hundred feet across the base. The Staircase’s were covered in centuries old Plant’s and Vine’s.

The Guide walked through the final patch of Brush first. He took long wide stride’s as to keep himself from staggering. Holding his hand above his brow he motioned for the two following hime to come forward.

“Ah, You see, Patience is a virtue.” Jack said taking a few more strike’s with his knife.

“So here it is. . . It’s incredible that no one else has found this thing before.” Selby said.

Manuel wasn’t a man of any particular importance in his village in the Rain Forrest. He had made his living fashioning clay pottery which he sold for very meager earnings in the other neighboring villages. He lived with his wife and two daughter’s in a small Hut on the outer rim of their village. They never had much money, nor did they have any valuable possesions of their own. This is why they were so eager to accept the small fortune the Medicine Man and the Strange woman he traveled with offered.

“Alright. . . Lets get to work.” Jack said dropping his large leather satchel to the ground. Inside were three cantiens of water, bungee cords along with other rock climbing gear and field lab equipment.

Selby kneeling beside him picked up the bungee cords and harness belts and ropes and put one on. They started climbing, Lightly Jogging at first then into a steady sprint to the top. Fifteen minutes later they were both at the top of An Ancient Mayan Pyramid. The sun now glaring directly over the both of their heads, they could see were they were headed.

Below them, Inside of the Room there was a pitch black cavern. From what the both of them could see it was completely empty.

Jack squated down to get a better view , carefull not to fall in he put on his miner’s Helmet and turned on the searchlight , then set out what he Promised.

Strapping himself in he wasn’t entirely sure of what he would find when he reached the bottom. But he put on the Harness along with his utility belt just the same.

He doubled and triple checked all of his equipment. Then looking up at Selby, He noded and gave her the signal to lower the rope.

The Cavern below burst open with light as jack lit his first flare. The darkness didn’t bother his eyes much the way he thought it would , And neither did the musky smell of a room that hadn’t been inhabited in over one thousand years.

“Ten feet. . . Fifteen feet. . . Twenty feet.” Selby counted out as Jack reached the floor of the room. Pausing to collect a clearer vies of his surrounding he took out his specimen sample jars and his work gloves. He then pulled two more flare’s from his leather satchel, Cracked them open, Then tossed them at opposite end’s of the large room he was now standing in.

The next item he pulled from his bag was no bigger than five subject notebook in size and length. It was slightly over and Inch thick and was covered both front and back with Mayan text symbols.

To the untrained eye the symbols didn’t have any real meaning. But in the back of his mind Jack knew better than not to pay more attention to things. This usefull skill helped him in much of his Academic aswell as Proffesional Career. And as far as he was concerned he wasn’t going to give it up now.

He held the stone tablet outward in front of him so it would catch the light from his hat. “Room of light.” Jack muttered to himself showing have a smile. Then loosening the harness he stood at the entrance of a very large room. Taking out his radio, “Alright im on my way to the well. . . . . Wish me luck.” he said making his way down a series of stairs.

“Heroe’s Don’t need luck!” Selby said into the radio while laughing. She stood atop of the The Temple Facing outward , wondering whether or not they made two day trek in the harshest environment she’d ever been in for nothing. As hard as she tried thoughts like those allways seemed to pop up in her mind at the worst possible time.

“We’re Here. . . And we are Going to find it.” She said. Out of Sight, Out of Mind was a Technique she always liked to use whenever situations seemed to prove too trying for even Her. Though she would never admit it aloud.

The Birds , lizards and insects all sounded a mix of loud yet soothing noise to Selby, An Easy distraction, as she atop the wonderous remnant of a once glorious civilization long past. She sat there spraying bug repelant with Alloe on her bare skin where visible. Waiting for the moment she had been praying for for over two years, waiting to Find it.

Jack finally reached the very bottom of the Apex when he found what he and Selby had spent the last two years of their lives in search of. Once in front of the massive entrance door to the room, Jack pulled the tablet out again.

Scrolling through the different symbols on the stone sheet , He began picturing the Sequence in his head. He counted it out step by step. Performing each action with consise movement a slow series of sliding and grinding noises started to chime. Then a sharp click. The door slowly slid upward , And it was open.

In the very center of the room stood a large stone cylindar covered in different symbols. Some similar to the symbols on the tablet and others he had never seen before.

Jack stepped forward cautiously. He then took out his specimen collection tools from his utility belt and procceded to attach them to his tow line that he prepared. His eyes widened as he leaned over the edge of the stone cylinder.

The water inside was a grayish green off blue color. This alone made jack smile even more. It was water, And better than that it was Blue. The glass jar sunk lower towards the water.

Jack stood there, trying to keep his mind focused on the task at hand. Instead his focus immediately turned to his Family, Miley and Neela. This always made things more difficult. Jack didn’t like for things to get difficult when there was important work to be done. But he loved them and thought about them nearly every minute of every day. Work or no work he knew he wouldn’t give that up for anything in the world. So he kept those memories.

Then just as the jar reached the surface of the water the floor began to shake.

It was hotter than was predicted that day. The Rain’s from two days earlier made the jungle’s that much more humid.

The Plane came to a complete stop at the end of the make-shift runway at the top of the mountain. The small airport it’s self wasn’t very modern to look at. The control tower looked as if it had been converted out of some sort of a metal shed.

The cabin door of the Plane swung open. A Man roughly twenty five to thrity five years of age stepped out. He wore pale off white cargo pants with a denim button down shirt. The neck area and arm pits of the shirt had been made damp from the humidity.

He fanned himself with his wide brimmed had. Taking a brief look around the area. He was a Tall man. He stood nearly six feet which was considered to be very tall by the local town’s people. He wore horn rimmed sunglasses and had a medium lengthed beard and had clasped a small object with his right hand that hung around his neck as he walked.

The Man who had been hired to meet them there pulled up behind the control tower in a small yellow automobile, European in style but older as well.

The Company Man wore a faded green military uniform , also dampened from sweat. He was off putting , rather large and didn’t have the appearance of Military officer at all about his dimeanor.

He procceded over towards the Tall Man.

Speaking broken English the Man in the uniform spoke. “Monroe, Yes ?” he said.

“Yes I am Monroe.” the Tall Man said slumping his green duffel bag over his shoulder.

“You come. Now. “ the Man in the uniform said while motioning to his vehicle.

“Alright then.” Monroe said waving his hand behind him at the Plane.

The cabin door open once more. “Jesus, Are we on the Fucking equator ?” A Young woman said making her way off of the Plane. She carried her two oversized bags over to where the two men were standing.

“You. Come Now.” the Officer said.

“Real Nice Manners there Buddy!” she said as the Office walked away leading them to his Vehicle.

Jack glanced at Selby and laughed.

“It’s not funny Jack.”

He glanced back at her as she attempted to follow along while struggling not to fall over with her luggage.

“It’s so nice that the company sent us a Babysitter isn’t It Jack ?” Selby said in a sarcastic voice.

“You know they haveto protect their investments Selby.” Jack said. Glancing Back at Selby long enough to laugh again as he continued to walk.

“Yes but a liason ?. . Jack Please.”

“Well, You wanted field work. . . . You got it.”

Jack looked over at Selby and Smiled. Things like that about her always made him smile. This of course made him question whether or not she really knew what she was in for when she signed on for this job, Or whether or not she would be capable of doing what needed to be done when the Time Came. But she was eager and combative, and he like that about her.

Jack and Selby both followed the odd Officer to his vehicle. They sat their luggage in the back cargo bay and each got into the back seat. The Officer looked back at them and Smiled with an extra large look of expression.

Jack and Selby looked at one another and giggled hysterically.

The drive down the Mountain wasn’t all too enjoyable, But neither of them minded just the same.

“What’s the name of it again ?”, Selby said gazing out of her window at the endless jungle that passed them by as they progressed.

Jack sat across from her. Thumbing through his briefs, preparing himself for what lie ahead of the both of them.

“The Deeper Well is what it’s called by the Native’s.” Jack said putting his sunglasses in his fron pocket.

“And they really think this is it ?”

“That’s what im told.”

“All the way out here.” She said. Not looking back at Jack Selby continued to look out of her window, Resting her head against the side of the vehicle door.

The vehicle continued down a winding path of the slope of the Mountain, until it came to a clearing.

It came to a stop. Jack exited first.

A Woman with dark golden brown skin came forward, speaking in Spanish.

“Hello, Welcome to our village.” the woman said while facing Jack.

Jack Smiled in Return. Knowing very little Spanish , only enough to communicate the Basics he understood in part when the Woman spoke. Holding a pair of Beaded hand made necklace’s, she placed them around each of their neck’s. Then as a sign of embrace hugged them both and kissed them once on each cheek.

The Woman was small between 5′3 and 5′6 wearing a beautiful floral printed dress and sandals. Her hair was in a long Pony Tail. She spoke again in Spanish, “I am Pita.” She smiled again at Jack and Selby. They both glanced at each other and smiled and then returned the generous smiles the woman gave them.

Then just below Jack’s waistline was small tug at his denim shirt. He looked below. Standing there at his feet was the six year old daughter of the village woman who had come to greet them. She spoke in Spanish. Then held up a white Soccer ball. It had been stained orange from the color of the mud that covered the ground in the village area.

Jack smiled at the little girl and spoke in Spanish to Her.

“You want to Play ?” he said, still holding the ball.

The Surrounding Children all laughed at his broken Spanish as he Spoke to the little girl. He laughed in unasend with them all, knowing that his Spanish was terrible, They all started up a game anyway.

Taking the ball back she dropped it, and then kicked it between jack’s legs to the other children. They all laughed and Played. The laughter was genuine, the most genuine thing he had heard in a long time.

He then joined in with the Game, kicking the ball back and forth. Having played Soccer briefly in High School Jack knew he wouldn’t be completely with out Skill, especially at performing small tricks with the Ball to gain the children’s trust.

He caught the Ball with both feet. Then in one continuous motion lifted it up as he jumped, catching it with the front arch of his left foot and bouncing it back between his left and right. The children all smiled and laughed together in amazement. Then with a final hard kick with his right foot the ball rose clear over his head and landed perfectly on top of it. The children continued smiling and laughing and clapping as he performed his final trick.

Jack smiled at the little girl then bounced the ball up and off of his head. It landed in her hands, She smiled even wider at him.

Jack rejoined Selby and Pita as she began the tour of the village. There were very few Hut’s and even fewer modern resources available in the village. But somehow in there own corner of the world they were at peace with themselves and the world around them.

The Hut’s Jack and Selby stayed in were very meager. This of course didn’t bother Jack or Selby, since that was the way they had become accustomed to functioning in their environments.

“A little Imagination. . A little love. . And it’ll be Great.” Jack said. He took off his bags and sat them down on the floor next to his mat. There were two mat’s and two blankets, with two medium sized ceramic clay bowls filled with water and a cloth for each. It was straight and to the point, and that’s exactly how they wanted it.

The next morning Jack awoke to the sounds of the exotic birds as well as different insects and animals. He rose to his feet and put on his sandals and stood in the door way of the Hut. The Bright blaze of sunlight showed clearly through, causing him to scratch his eyes in adjustment.

Once completely alert he came back into the Hut , pulled a bowl from the side of the Hut and splashed water on his face. Still wearing his clothes from the other day he made his way back outside the Hut, Jack walked to the center of the village.

Selby, already awake, stood talking with Pita and a Man from the village. He was shorter than Pita with slightly darker skin and spoke slightly heavier Spanish. Pita introduced the Man as Manuel.

Extending him his hand Jack said hello to the Man with a smile. Manuel smiled in return giving Jack a firm grip while he shook his hand. Jack liked this, and could tell from his mannerisms that Manuel was a Proud Man, a good Man. And in that instance Jack knew that Selby had found them a good Guide.

Later that afternoon Jack and Selby broke out their hiking gear and equipment, bungee cord, rope, mining helmet’s, gloves, radio’s etc. etc. They each filled one sachel with one of everything that they would need and placed them at their sides. Then grabbing their water cantien’s they stopped at the local watering hole and filled them and followed Manuel into the Heart of the Jungle.

Hours later the Scientists stopped for a rest, for what to them had seemed to take literally days to accomplish was nearly at an end.

Jack and Selby each drank from their cantein’s, while taking shade under a nearby growth tree. There it loomed in the distance, not far, nearly visibly through the trees. What they had found. What they were looking for. The Birth Place of all creation.

Selby exhausted every possible contingency plan that there was, And although she did take joy in the fact that they were leaving ahead of schedule, it still worried her that Jack still hadn’t woken up yet.

That afternoon Selby returned to the Hut, nearly oblivious to all things surrounding her other than Jack, She tried again to reach someone at headquarters. The Odd Officer was of literally no help at all. This didn’t surprise her in the least, Since she didn’t think he had the brain power to say is ABC’s in proper order if you asked him.

Her GPS Phone hadn’t been getting any signals since they landed. She kept trying never the less, but regardless of whether she got through or not she knew what their answer would be. Extraction.

She sat down on the dirt floor, positioning her back directly against the make-shift hospital bed the villagers prepared for Jack’s return. The nearest fully functioning hospital was over one hundred miles away. And with the type’s of injuries he sustained in the accident, She knew that trip would be literally impossible.

Selby paced back and forth outside of the Hut for what it seemed like hours. Finally when she knew she could no longer stand she came back inside. Jack lay there unconscious, half of his body wrapped in cloth bandage’s in order to contain the seapage. For a while she sat there. Not really thinking of anything specific. But the reality of the situation filled her mind again. Jack was severly injured, they had no specimen samples to bring back to the lab, and their one link to the Cradle of All Life on Earth was becoming ill. Things had changed. More specifically everything had changed. There was no Solution to any of these problems and she knew it. And it didn’t sit well with her at all.

Several minutes later, much to her utter surprise and shock she felt a slight rub of fingers against her shoulder. Selby jumped at the sensation. Eye’s widened she knelt down, stroking her hand across his forehead she smiled.

“Welcome back Old Fart.” Selby said looking down at Jack as tears of joy filled her eyes.

“You know you ain’t getting rid of me that easy, Young Fart.” Jack said smiling back up at her just barely.

“Heroe’s make their own luck, huh ?”

Jack Smiled again laughing nearly a little.

“Well Old Fart you must be one lowsy Heroe then.” Selby said. She laughed, clasping her hand around his as he laughed as well.

“How long have I been out ?” Jack said. Rolling his half opened eyes back and forth, adjusting them to the light.

“Three days.”

“What happened ?”

Selby moved closer to Jack, gripping his hand a little tighter now, she knew what had to come next wouldn’t be easy. She knew she couldn’t tell her Boss and closest friend whom she had worked with for more than two year’s of her life that his world was going to change for the worse. Forever. But she always prided herself on strength. And that was what Both of them would need from now on.

“Selby. . . What happened ?”

She didn’t respond.

His eyes were now completely open. He could feel the adrenalin pumping through his vien’s. Jack’s degree of alarm increased as he tried to sit completely upright so that he could properly face whatever bad news he was about to hear from his friend. But that in and of it’s self was the nature of the Bad news. Jack’s legs didn’t move.

“Hold on. . . . . Let me. . . . .” His words trailed off and came to a defening hault. He then realized that from the inaction of his lower body and the look in Selby’s eyes that it was true.

“You hurt your back in the fall.” Selby said. Her eyes began to water, as did Jack’s eyes.

Thrashing slightly on his bed, he tried franticly to prove her and himself wrong. Hoping that it all was just a simple miscalculation. But he knew better.

Most of Jack’s injuries were superficial, all except for one. Selby continued and told him that because of the angle that he fell through the floor in the temple room he landed on the lower base of his back. The depth of the well had been greatly smaller than the data had shown in the brief, therefore the shallowness of the water along with the combined force of the impact caused much more damage to his spinal column then it would have if the water level were higher.

He lay there, for a considerable length of time, not moving, not speaking. He only stare up emotionless at the roof of the Hut. Jack’s eyes began to fill with tears again. He hoped it was all a dream. That He wasn’t in South America, That his wife and daughter were still alive, That he still had use of both of his legs, and that he was at home. The one Place he missed so much and hadn’t been for so long.

Selby gave him a kiss on the forehead. Still crying she whiped her cheeks and left Jack alone in the Hut. She didn’t travel far before she found a nearby Hut with no one around. There alone in and emotionally safe place, She sat on the ground while hugging her knees and began to cry.

A few hours later Selby came back to the Hut. Not sure of how he would react to the rest of the news, she contemplated not telling him. And just as quickly as those thoughts entered her mind she put them back out again. Selby Bradshaw didn’t lie to or Keep things from the People she loved, And she was going to keep it that way no matter what. Because in the end she knew it wouldn’t do anyone any good whatsoever. Not here, and not now.

“Were leaving.”

“When ?”

“In two days.”

Selby knelt at the head of the bed, she held Jack’s hand. It felt unusually cold and clamy, which she knew wasn’t a good sign. His complection didn’t look good either. This she immediately knew meant that he had developed an infection, most likely in the blood.

“There’s something else Jack.” She said, completely changing her tone of voice.

“what’s wrong ?” Jack said, now staring directly at Selby.

“The Village. . . . . . . . . . . It’s getting sick.”

“Sick how ?”

“There’s something in the water. . some kind of Pathegen. I can’t identify it.”

“How many ?”

“Too many. . . . Including a lot of the kids.”

Jack’s eyes began to wonder frantically, thinking of things that could be done. Vaccine sample’s , Experimental Compound Cocktails, anything that could help. Even in his condition he knew he couldn’t just lay there and do nothing.

By the look in his eyes alone she already knew what he was doing. A part of her hated it just as much as she loved and cared about him. But she knew anyway that it was the right thing to do, regardless of the consiquences for disobeying “Company Order’s”.

“Have you reached anybody at the lab yet ?” Jack said, now staring again back at Selby.

“Im already on it.”

“Tell them all of our known Vaccine’s, Experimental Vaccine’s, Experimental Compounds, the works!” Jack said, trying to motion after Selby as she left the Hut, nearly causing himself to fall out of the bed.

Laying back down on the bed he slowly rubbed his right hand across the base of his chest, And in a split second he noticed that it wasn’t there. Frantically he reached down and put his left hand into the side pocket of his satchel. Then clasping the rope he pulled out the talisman.

The Talisman Jack was now holding in his hand was small and hardly at all noticeable except for the string from which it hung around his neck. It had been in Neela’s Family for generations. Handed down from parent to child, parent to child.

And since it was all that he had to remember her by, That made it all that much more important to him. Which he needed more than ever.

It was darker than it originally was. And now there was clearly something inside of it.

It was a greenish blue color, and it sparkled a bit when Jack held it up to the light.

It was more than water. That much was certain.

The next day Jack lay in the bed, mostly thinking about what was in the Talisman. About what he should do with what he had recovered from the Temple. Now knowing exactly what it was he knew had two choices. Either keep what was in the Talisman and take it Back to the lab for Analysis, in which case he would never see it again. Or use what was inside of it and maybe help some people in the Proccess. He knew that if he did do what he was thinking of doing that he would loose his job indefinitely. But he knew what he had to do, and if the stories about the Temple were true, lives would be at stake.

Later that afternoon, alone by himself in the Hut, Jack managed to shift his entire body completely upright against the wall. Tired, out of breathe and exhausted he vomited. Managing to catch it before it came out and lean over the side of the bed before he did it on himself. Even more pale and cold now , he noticed that the entire bottom of the bed where he had been laying was soaked through with blood.

He knew he didn’t have much time left, a few hours, a day at the very most before the Sepsus completely took over.

Seeing the blood stain then only solidified his resolve to do what he had made up his mind to do. He knew that if indeed the water from the Temple was the water talked about in all of the Legends and it did have the capabilities that the Legends claimed, He would be cured. And in doing so not only would he cure himself be he could also syphon a sample of his anti-bodies.

He sat there caressing the Talisman in his hands. Staring at it. Jack sat perfectly still holding the Talisman vile in his hand, then suddenly having a flash of thought and remembering the children he played soccer with days earlier. Remembering their laughter and smiles.

Remembering his daughter and wife, and how if he had only found the Temple a month sooner they would be alive and in his arms.

Jack Monroe believed that there were many great tragedies to experience in life. For all men and women alike. Some more great than others. But one, to him, he just couldn’t let stand.

He continued to sit there. A Steadt strean if tears began to pour down his cheeks. Then with out any hesitation whatsoever he opened the vile and drank it’s contents. The taste of the water didn’t bother him at all, infact the sensation of it was quite warm and soothing on the way down. Not like he expected it to taste.

He dropped the vile at his side, then gradually slumped over and drifted off to sleep.

The very next morning nothing was as it seemed. The entire village was in an uproar as Selby made her way out of the Hut. She strode out, Scratching her eyes at the extreme brightness of the sun. Town’s people hurried from all directions past making all kinds of chatter as they walked. By the time she knew where everyone was going there was already a crowd of gawker’s around Pita’s Hut.

Inside, Pita, her mother Rosa, and Pita’s daughter, the same girl who played soccer with Jack days before, lay on the floor of the Hut. Her eye’s were closed. She wasn’t moving, and she was Pale, nearly as Pale as Jack was when Selby saw him last.

Selby quietly entered the Hut excusing herself as she passed through the other villager’s standing in front of the Hut.

Otherwise this series of events would have seemed unimportant or evn common place to her, had it not been for her noticing Jack kneeling on the ground beside her.

Much to everyone’s surprise that morning the Medicine Man had gotten up fairly early and began his important work. Which was what he always called it. Mixing samples of his own blood he began to notice a completely astonishing change in all of the sick people in the village. They were healed.

The transformation it’s self left the spectator’s as well as all of the former victim’s themselves baffled. The Man himself couldn’t wrap his mind around it either. But it had happened. His Back felt perfectly fine, his legs were in normal working condition and most importantly the Sepsus in his blood was completely gone.

Jack didn’t know for the life of him how or why it all happened the way that it did. And to this very day when people ask him about it he still doesn’t know. But one thing he did know and still does to this day is that Helped those people. And he felt pretty good about it too.

Selby’s eyes widened with amazement and excitement, which nearly brought her to tears again, as she watched Jack inject the small girl with a needle of dark red fluid. It went into the girl’s arm fairly easy and with very little pain.

Jack rose to his feet. No longer seeming ill or poor colored. He then rubbed the little girl’s head looking down at her as she slept. No one in the room said anything. He made his way outside , closing his eyes he clenched onto the Talisman with his right hand that was now back around his neck.

He felt good, better than he had been in a really long time. He knew there would be a million questions to which he didn’t have any of the answer’s. And he knew there would ten’s of million’s of people wanting him to do for them what he just did for the people in that village. But he didn’t care.

He saved lives, something that no matter what happened or what the future held, he was a Medicine Man, and he liked that.

Selby followed Jack outside, she stood next to him in the morning sunlight, and smiled at him as she began to relize what she had just witnessed. Of all the wonderful things in her life that she would ever see, and of all the wonderful things she could ever hope to see, Selby Bradshaw saw a Miracle. For lack of a even remotely comparable word, with all the proper and intelligible knowledge she possessed she could only think of one true word. Miracle.

The day they left the village seemed brighter than any other he had ever seen before. Jack grabbed both of his bags and stood at the entrance to the village.

Selby grabbed her oversized bags and loaded them into the back of the odd Officer’s bright yellow vehicle. She knew what going back would mean. what it would entail for her and more so for Jack. Their live’s would never be the same. Things had truly changed forever. And in her mind, change wasn’t really all that bad.

Jack looked down at the Talisman and began to smile again.

Then just as he began to leave, a soccer ball hit him in the foot. A little girl, no more than the age of six ran over to him. He picked up the ball and knelt down, holding it in both hands, smiling at the little girl. Her name was Maya.

Jack gave the ball back to Maya. She smiled wanningly at him, gave him a big hug with both arms so big that she dropped the soccer ball whe she did. She picked the ball back up and ran to her that was waiting for her. Her mother’s name was Pita.

And so it was that Jack Monroe and Selby Bradshaw left the Jungle’s of South America. And even though they may never return they knew things had changed. For better or worse was remained to be seen. But Jack certainly never forgot the people he helped in that village. And he never forgot Pita, or her daughter Maya. The little girl who helped him Change the world.

Jack had come into the lab early, he was dressed in his usuall casual work clothes, denim jeans, work boots and a shirt. He didn’t need to concern himself with wearing suits and tie’s. Since he only owned one suit and worked in a lab all day mostly at a computer terminal.

“Hi Old Fart.”

“Good morning Young Fart. . . . Any new changes ?”

“Nope. Still the same.”

The work he and Selby did during the duration of the week had been pretty mundane. It most often was, but more things were happening now. This worried the company heads more than they liked. And the fact that their top Researcher had such a close relationship with his work didn’t ease the matter much either.

He sat down. Drinking his coffee he took all his paper work from the night before and began reviewing the data again.

Selby handed him his white lab coat and he put it on. Knowing that Jack seldom did anything but review work first in the morning she handed him her work that she had compiled. He sat the paper’s down next to his own as continued to drink.

A brief knock on the laboratory door came. A Man whom Jack and Selby immediately recognized as Dr. J.R. McReady stepped inside. He was their superior, and brilliant in his own field, which made him believe that it was rightfully so. By the smile on his face Jack realized what Joe had in his hand. And he knew that finally, the wait was over.

“We found it.”

“You sure this time ?”

“One hundred percent confirmation doctor.”

Jack paused staring motionless as his papers. Then slowly looking up he focused primarily on what was in Joe’s hand.

“So. . . . . Doctor. . . Are you ready to change the world ? “
