Together, and yet miles apart… the end of love.

Across an inky black depth
I watch you while you sleep
Knowing I can’t reach out and touch you
Because as always
We’re oceans apart

The absence of your hands upon me
Presses heavy against my heart
I remember
When once upon a time
You’d have ridden on the back of a butterfly
Just to get to me

Dawn finally arrives
Unrequited need drives me from your side
To be washed away on an open road
Running from my reflection
That comes bouncing back to me
Off the lens of your eyes
