children do not understand
the feelings between adults
they only know that daddy
does not call or visit
they only understand what
mama tries to tell them
mama was not happy
and wanted a different life
so now we have a new house
where mama does not cry
but they still miss their daddy
and want to see him too
they understand why daddy
cries when they have to go
home, they cry too
but daddy is the grownup
so shouldn?t he be brave?
and kiss them and hug them
and keep his promises to call?
because that would help them
to be brave until the next time
and they are the important ones
because children don?t understand
