First love.

An innocently smiling promise,
Mindful of the straw on her broom,
She flew down the line to meet me.
I was excited as, two birds in spring.
Yet the summer had been long,
But I could pretend fall had fallen.
When you need to break a mindset,
You find it not breaking so frankly,
It can laugh and tell you things can be
Perfect as the tree’s bent knee.
However we can still fly away
Onto towers of steel and feel
Things we have all ready felt before.
What’s more than friendship,
In five hour phone calls that keep,
And strolls downtown
After late-night movie dates?
How can I take this?
Your infatuation that occurred
Whilst I slept soundly,
Thinking such trivialities
of Cars and God.
It would be like kindly tearing
At a heart of black leather,
Singing “Adelante Caminante,”
On top of a feather.
