A poem written about someone who was deceived for a long time by a close friend who has now shown their true colors.
Once the portrait of all things lovely
The embodiment of every beauty
Keeping me unaware
Of the kind of person you really are
Your mask of perfection neatly in place
You fooled me with deception’s grace
Never could I imagine
The ugliness beneath, my friend.
Be careful lest you drop your guard
And people see you as you are
For you are someone truly fake
As a plastic rose that is hand-made
You care for no-one but yourself
And everyone else can go to hell
You had no qualms about using me
But your true face I now can see
Your deceptive mask has slipt aside
Now there is nowhere else to hide
I now know who you truly are
And the ugliness within your heart
Beauty is now redefined
And now I have a clearer mind
Of what true beauty really is
You’ve been a far cry ever since
So, put your mask back on, little girl
So that you can fool the world
But always remember that I know
What you tried to never show.
