My view of religion and spirituality and my reaction to a close relationship with the church.

I did not sign up for a religion
When I opened up your church doors
I can’t even find the right rhythm
For dealers, prostitutes, and whores
ALL ARE WELCOME, you say
…as long as you conform
COME AS YOU ARE, you say
…but change the filthy clothes you’ve worn
You despise my dirt
The dirt I unashamedly wear as clothes
My shoes fill your mouths with muck
And your head with questions
Get Out! You yell
Before you stain my robes
My blood is a reminder of
Free will
Thought
Questions
I am not welcome
Not as I am
Not if I don’t believe who I am must
CHANGE
You fight and you sing and you cry and you pray
Pat yourself on your knife-scarred back,
Then drop your weapons because
The Bible tells me so
What does it mean to care?
What does it mean to do?
What does it mean to judge?
What would Jesus do?
LOVE is all that matters
LOVE is all there is
GOD is LOVE and LOVE is GOD
And that is who I am
