A relationship gone astray.
Just look at me when I talking to you.
That’s all I ask.
You don’t have to pay attention, you don’t have to agree.
Just notice that I’m in front of you.
Just take the time to try and see me.
Less than a minute would be worth a lifetime if you noticed me.
I’d beg, but I’ve run out emotion,
run out of any feeling that would make my pleas seem sincere.
I’d try to take your hand,
but any strength I’ve once possessed has been robbed from me.
When people act like you’re invisible,
you begin to become convinced that you are,
in fact,
nonexistent.
I take time to plan each step,
carefully memorize each line,
just for you.
And after an entire performance of emotions,
personalized and attributed to you,
all I get is a smile.
A weak turn at the lips.
Barely even a stretch from your normal composure,
and the sad thing,
is that it’s enough.
Enough for me at least,
but is it enough for you?
