Celebrating the 57th anniversary of the bar code.
Google has found a way of entertaining visitors. Although it is not a very new topic, Google has been changing the Google logo on the homepage to meet special events throughout the world.
Today, the Google homepage has a bar code instead of Google, and it is celebrating the 57th anniversary of the fist patent bar code. The patent was issued in 1952, as 2,612,994. The bar code now seems to say Google, but no one is sure.
Bar codes are now used for almost everything in almost all stores, much different from when it was invented. Back then, bar code readers were very expensive, so not many companies had them. You can view the full history of bar codes by clicking here.
Here is the image:

I think that people could use a bar code reader on their phone to read it, but I can’t, because I do not own one. That’s all I have to say, thanks for viewing, and happy 57th birthday, bar code!
