It was a dark, dreary night in Toronto in 1895. A group of fishermen were sitting in a restaurant eating, while discussing the lack of fish sales for that year. They were very disappointed and were worried that they would not be able to make enough money to support their families any longer. Their future was not looking so great. All of a sudden, they noticed an advertisement come on the television. The Red Lobster was offering a one million dollar reward to anyone who could bring them a baby whale. The fisherman realized that this was their opportunity to make money, and began making arrangements to travel to Nova Scotia. The five fisherman decided to set out the next day to travel to Nova Scotia. They packed their belongings, as well as the necessary equipment to trap the baby whale, and agreed to set out the next morning. . 

The next day, they left for Nova Scotia by train. They were very excited and could not wait to receive their $1000000 reward. When they reached Cape Breton Island, they immediately went to rent a fishing boat and harpoons. After obtaining these items, they set out into the Atlantic. While on the boat, a roaring storm set in and they had a very difficult time keeping their boat on course. The thunder roared and the boat was thrown in every direction possible. In despair, when they thought their plight couldn’t get any worse, they saw sharks circling their boat. The sharks barred their teeth and continued circling their boat, getting closer and closer each time. All of a sudden, one shark lunged at the boat. It shook the boat and one man lost his balance and fell off. The other four men, scared and worried, huddled together in the middle of the boat, hanging on for their lives. Thankfully, the storm suddenly ended and the sky became brighter. When the four men looked around, they had no idea where they were. However, they noticed a small island and decided to rest there for the night. They reached the shore, tired and discouraged. They thought finding a baby whale would be an easy task, but they were wrong. One of their men had already died, and it had not even been a day! Should they continue with their mission, or should they go back home before they are all killed?

They pitched a tent there and slept for the night. The next day, they woke up in the early morning to see if they could catch a fish to eat for breakfast. They walked to the shore, and what did they see? They saw a group of mother whales along with their babies. THey thought they had hope, and They set out in their boat right away. The next thing they know, they were surrounded by whales. They kept shooting the harpoon at the whales as they are scared that the whales would push them off the boat, just like what happened their fellow fishermen. The whales started hitting the boat from all sides, and the fisherman seriously thought they would be thrown overboard. One of the fishermen accidentally shot the baby whale in the eye, and it started bleeding profusely. The mother, enraged, slammed into the centre of the boat, and the feeble boat broke in half. The four fishermen fell off, and died immediately.
