A philosopher was anxious to understand God and his ways. He referred to ancient books and scriptures, but the more he read, the more puzzled he grew.

One evening, he left his studies and went to the seashore to have a breath of fresh air. There he saw a little boy who had dug ahole in the sand and was getting water from the sea and pouring it into the hole. Intrigued, the holy man asked the little boy, ” What are you doing, my child?”

“I am trying to empty the sea into my hole.” The boy answered ” How absurd!” exclaimed the holy man. ” How can you put the whole mighty ocean into your little hole?”

Even as he spoke those words , the realization dawned on him that he himself had been equally foolish, is trying to comprehend the whole of God’s infinite wisdom with his tiny human mind!

How true it is that even as you cannot hear with eyes nor see with ears, even as you can not understand or comprehend God with the senses and the mind.
