The true story of an convicted felon who had perseverance and continued to try and be a productive member of society.
He was labeled a convict; a convicted felon. He did his time and paid his debt to society, but still at a young age; no one would give him a second chance to become a productive member of society. So there he was, unable to get a job and fresh out of a Texas penal facility. Even though the crime he committed wasn’t a violent or drug related charge; it all boils down to, he broke the law. He knew this and still wanted a second chance. No one was willing to give it to him. So he turned to drugs. Money was good and he didn’t have to pass a background check to get hired. Just buy the drugs, get clientele, and make fast money. Not as easy as it sounds though. He was steady watching behind his back; sleeping with one eye open.
He never knew when the police would bust through his door or a street thug would try to take everything he had. He started carrying a gun everywhere he went. He was scared and paranoid that someone would soon take his life. He knew if he continued the life he was living, it would soon enough catch up with him; but what would he do for money. He couldn’t seem to find a job because of his past. It just didn’t seem fair. Every employer had the right not to hire him. Why would they want to hire someone that had a criminal history, when they could hire someone just as qualified that has never been in trouble. This isn’t the life he chose. He wanted to make a difference in life. One day he decided that no matter who turned him down, he wouldn’t give up trying. He prepared a resume and started to hand them out to every possible employer he could think of. He volunteered all his extra time to local non-profit organizations and places like the Red Cross. He added all the volunteering to his resume to show the employers he deserves the chance to make a difference. He struggled day to day to make ends meet. He took on low paying odd jobs to keep food on his table. Then one day the struggling and dedication paid off. He received a phone call about a job he applied for.
The guy told him they usually don’t hire someone with a criminal history, but the volunteering his time looked good for him. They would place him on a probation period and make him sign a contract. It was also a low paying job, but better than what he was already making. He worked non-stop everyday and showed much incentive. He began to get promotion after promotion until he reached the top. He was making so much money that his employer offered to help him begin his own business. He took him up on his offer. Now this rehabilitated convicted criminal owns a multi-million dollar business. All because he showed initiative and didn’t give up. If he would’ve continued to sell drugs; he would either be dead or in prison.
MORAL : If you strive for something and don’t give up; you shall benefit from it. Also, not to judge someone by one mistake in their past. Give them a chance and see if they will do good. They may be the best person you ever had; and you also would’ve saved them from death or prison.
