A girl who goes to heaven with matches.
There was once a little girl. She was wandering about in the snow of December. She sold matches so she could earn some money for her family. Today she didn’t sell any matches. She didn’t want to go home because sh knew her father would give her a scolding and hit her more then there are trees in the world. Her name was Elyon. Elyon was very cold. She didn’t notice her beautiful blond curls glistening in the snow. Elyon finally stopped walking and sat down. She wanted to start a fire, but she couldn’t. Then Elyon remembered about the matches she still had. She struck one. Then the buildings and trees disappeared, instead there in front of her lay a big roast turkey and a big fire. But once the match went out, so did this illusion. Elyon struck another match. A Christmas tree stood in front of her, sparkling with lights. It disappeared. Quickly Elyon struck another match. Her late grandmother stood before her. Elyon loved her grandmother, so she hurriedly struck a whole bundleof matches. Then she saw just beside her grandmother, a star was flying, ever so merrily. Elyon thought “Someone is dying”, for her grandmother said that if a star was falling, someone was dying. Then Elyon heard her grandmother say “It’s time, Elyon, you’re freezing”. Then Eloyn’s grandmother took her to heaven. There she was, sitting in a corner of a building, dead.
