A short fable, wherein Frank and Joe seem incapable of changing their ways and end up at odds with a pack of plucky nuns, ending in moral pun.
Frank and Joe were finally
released from prison. Each
declared that, henceforth, he
would be a law abiding citizen.
It wasn’t long, however, before
they fell back into their old
ways and found themselves, again,
on the wrong side of the law.
Fleeing the police, they sought
refuge within a nearby convent;
but the sisters there were wise to
their ways and apprehended the
criminals by way of a cast iron
skillet. Mother superior ordered
that they should be bound, but
there was no cord to be found.
Within a large, dusty chest she
found numerous old habits which
had fallen into disrepair. She
ordered the sisters to tie
the old garments together and
bind the men with them.
When they awoke, the men could
not move. Each was a stout man,
but try as they might, they simply
could not break free of the holey,
old robes. Shortly thereafter,
the police arrived and took them
away.
What is the moral of the story?
Old habits are hard to break!
