A story I wrote about how raccoons developed bandit eyes for my religion class.
On an island in a little community lived three raccoons. Raccoons are scavengers; they are always looking for food. Raccoons are often found going through people trash. One morning the garbage was picked up early and the raccoons became hungry. A raccoon walked by a witch’s window and noticed a pile of food lying on the table with other unidentifiable items. The raccoons snuck in the house through a crack in the window and began to feast on all of the food. As they were finishing the last piece of cheese the witch walked in. She glared at the raccoons then walked towards the cauldron. She began to place items in the cauldron while chanting. The area around the raccoon’s eyes began to become a dark black. The witch then said “curse you bandits, now everyone will know of your stealing nature, you and your children will be cursed with bandit’s eyes. Since then very few raccoons have ever dared to enter a person’s house and instead of searching for food during the day they now look for food during the night before the garbage is picked up.
