Soon the ship came near the sirens’ rock. Ulysses saw many skeletons and shipwrecks on the cliffs, and then heard a song sweeter than honey.

*Ulysses was great traveler. He lived in Ancient Greece about 2,500 years ago. He traveled for many years. He wanted to get home to his wife, but there were many differences and adventures on the way.
“Look!’’ Ulysses was Cried, and pointing at it. “That’s the rock where the sirens live! They sing such beautiful songs that if we hear them, we’ll have to go o them. Then our ship will break up on the rocks. Quick! There’s no time to lose. Put wax in your ears so that you won’t hear them.’’
But Ulysses did not put wax in his ears. He was both curious and brave. He wanted to hear the famous songs. H also wanted to test his strength against the sirens.
“Tie me to the mast so that I cannot stop the boat,’’ he told his men. 1“`Then sail past the rock.’’
They tied him to the mast and put wax in their ears.
Soon the ship came near the sirens’ rock. Ulysses saw many skeletons and shipwrecks on the cliffs, and then heard a song sweeter than honey.
“Come, Ulysses. You are tired, we know. You are sad. Come to us and we will give rest. You will be happy after your long travels.’’
Ulysses forgot everything. He wanted to go the rock because the song was so beautiful. “Stop the boat!’’ he shouted. “We must go to the rock.’’
But the men had wax in their ears and could hear either Ulysses or the Sirens. They sailed on.
“Turn the boat, I say!’’ shouted Ulysses, pulling at this ropes. “Either turn the boat or let me go!’’
But the men neither turned the boat nor let Ulysses go. Before long they were past the rock. Then Ulysses forgot the sirens’ song.
“We are safe!’’ he said.
