The Story of Fabian.

One day, a stable boy called Fabian, had his family taken away from him while he was grooming his finest horses in the stable. Fabian became rather upset and was quite lonely from this incident after he found out. So, Fabian decided that he needed to go in search for his family. But, there was only one problem, Fabian was quite poor and didn’t really have any income, and even if he used all his money, to the last penny, he could not afford the transport for such a long expedition. Fabian was a fairly decent horse rider and had some tough horses, so he decided he would train as a jouster and then enter the upcoming tournament where the prize money was 5,000 pieces of gold.

Fabian could not even afford a lance, so he had to make one out of a fallen tree. The very next day, Fabian commenced his training; it did not come to him easily, so hours of practice awaited him. After quite a few days of practice, with the tournament still many days away, he still wasn’t getting good at jousting and Fabian needed the money. Suddenly, when Fabian woke up one morning with a very positive attitude, he got on his horse, ready with his lance in his hand, and charged at the dummy like he’d never done before. Now Fabian was ready, he got through those gloomy days of training, and the tournament was only a week away.

Finally, it was the day of the competition, Fabian had to compete against the all-time champion, Rodrigo. “How am I going to win this? Rodrigo has been doing this for 15 years!” Fabian murmured to himself. It made him feel even worse when the crowd was cheering on Rodrigo, but Fabian kept himself together and stayed strong. The two competitors were eagerly waiting for the countdown, and there it was, 3…2…1, and they charged at each other with all their might.

As they got closer to each other, nearing the final blow, Fabian’s sword wobbled around unsteadily and as he focused on Rodrigo his sword focused too. Now the tip of his sword was only inches away… and, it happened, Fabian’s sword slit right the Rodrigo’s chain armour.

Fabian did it and he was astounded! He knocked Rodrigo of his horse. After Fabian had recovered from his victorious win, he made his way over to receive the 5,000 pieces of gold. Fabian was so excited that he had 5,000 pieces of gold that he didn’t even think he needed to go and look for his family because he was so rich and famous. In the end, when Fabian realised how selfish that would’ve been if he didn’t find his family, he went and set forth on his journey to find his family.
