Chapter two of my vampire story.
Rodge stood staring at me as Romey got into his car. When he hears the door close he closes his eyes, “Stay away from my sister.”
“You know why. You will not hurt my sister on my watch.” I see the anger coming into his face and hold back a laugh.
“You know as well as I do, that she’s not in any danger around me. Its not me that your worried about. It’s him. You have no reason to fear me, I don’t hunt humans.”
“You say that, but I know that you make mistakes. My sister will not be one of them. I know you think you love her, but I will do all that I can to make sure she doesn’t fall for you. You know as well as I do that keeping her away from you also protects her from him.” I clench my teeth together and a smile spreads a cross his face. “Oh, I’m sorry, is that against your plan?”
I sigh, “How do you plan to make sure your sister doesn’t fall for me? The odds are in my favor.” I hold up my hand, “scent, appearance, voice,” I lifted a finger for every point I made.
“I’ll keep her away from you.” He is getting desperate, I can see it. “Even if it means I have to kill you, I’ll do it. Please don’t make me resort to that.”
I chuckle, “Kill me? Do you really think you could win. Once again the odds are in my favor, strength, speed, skin as hard as rock, please think about that decision. I would take you out in less than 30 seconds. I really don’t want to have to kill you, Rodge.”
He looks towards the ground, “Please, stay away from her. You know as well as I do that it’s not healthy for her to love you.” I tilt my head to the side and place a hand on his shoulder, “I know.” He nods and walks away. When he reaches his car he turns and waves, but I’m already gone. He knows that I saw it anyway. I hope Romey didn’t see me disappear.
I quickly run through the trees, hoping to beat my family home. I don’t want to have to explain to them where I was. They probably wouldn’t approve of my trying to court a human. I slow down as I approach the castle gate and nod at one of the guards. He opens the gate and I step through. Leroy has beaten me home, I can smell it in the air. Soon as I sigh he appears in front of me.
