What does it take to make President Obama listen to the people?

My husband and I had started a trucking business in December of 2006 and things were starting to look up for us until President Obama came into office, then it all came crashing down around us,first we lost my Boxer March 3rd, i was diagnosed with thyroid cancer March 27th,we lost our trucking business June 24th, and i lost my Australian Shepherd September 11th. And I just recently had my new vehicle repossessed October 2nd. Life has not been good to us this year.

And the only good thing that has happened this year is that my husband started going to church and was baptized last month. We try so hard to be grateful for at least still being able to live in our house, but by January 2010 we will lose it due to non-payment of property taxes.

I listen to the things on the news about President Obama saying he wants to put us in jail if we don’t buy health insurance and raising our already high electric bills,it makes me furious that he thinks so little of the middle and lower class people who struggle to make a living. We have worked hard all our lives to get to where we are today and in one President change it has all been taken away.

My husband works now for a petroleum company that is not doing any better than the company we worked for when we lost our business and he might as well be working at McDonalds for all he is making. We have tried everywhere trying to find other work to make enough pay to pay our bills and we are turned down left and right, due to people not hiring or we are to experienced.

What will it take for President Obama to listen to the people? Will we lose this country to socialism? Will we never have a say in how this country is run again?

It’s interesting to see an insider’s view of the effect of the economic downturn in the US. We are all experiencing it to some extent, but I think America is possibly faring the worst. Here in Australia we tend to be given a rosy picture of how Mr Obama is doing, that he is struggling with health care but still very popular. Journalism can be very one-sided.
I wish you the very best in your battle with misfortune, and hope that one day you can come out the other end smiling.

Thank you,it has been a very hard year. Mr. Obama is not what everyone expected him to be. Most of our young adults only heard the word change and they were willing to vote for him, even one of my own daughters until i sat down with her and asked her about it. She didn’t even know what he was going to change, when i told her that the change would be higher taxes, higher electric bills, higher gas bills and that alot of people would lose their jobs, she changed her mind and didn’t vote for him. Our young adults were misinformed and their for voted for the wrong one.
