What a day of rest means to me.

Day of Rest

Is there ever such a thing? The Bible says that even God rested when He was done with his work.  My home is turned upside down because we have been trying to give it a facelift.  Every day is a challenge.  Every day there is work, work and more work.  Even on the day I want to rest, my husband comes into the room and seems me sitting and watching a movie and it bothers him.

He will find something to pick on.  He will find something for me to do.  He will ask me to do something for him.  He will ask me to make something for him to eat.  So I begin to wonder if there is such a day of rest for a wife.  Even on a Sunday, I serve at my ministry at church and am on my feet from 6 am to 2 p.m., then I get home and I have to take the dogs out, cook, wash and in between cooking, folding clothes and feeding the dogs, I get to watch a movie.

Sunday is my day of rest and yet there seems to be no rest. I just want a day of rest. A day where I eat cold pizza in bed, stay in my pajamas, watch stupid shows and movies on television, a day where I don’t answer the phone, don’t speak to anyone, don’t care if the cat’s litter is cleaned or the dogs are walked, no cleaning, no cooking, no washing, absolutely nothing.

A day of rest is what I want. A day of rest is probably what all wives, mothers, and women want.  Some women say a spa day is what they need, but even that is too much work on a day of rest.  I mean, you have to get dressed, drive to the spa, get undressed and then get dressed again to drive back home.  Wow! Just thinking about it makes me tired.  A day of rest should be just that a day of rest.  I don’t even want anyone serving me.  A cold pizza and a few bottles of water in the room is all I need.  The only thing that should take some energy out of me is getting out of bed to go to the bathroom.

A day of rest! That’s it! A day of rest.
